    Introduction to Willow Weaving (5 week course)

    Five sessions: This course runs every Thursday from 11th November – 9th December 2021

    An introduction into the world of willow weaving.

    WEEK 1
    Welcome to Learning session*

    WEEKS 2 - 5
    During this course you will be taught the basic skills to carry out a variety of willow weaving projects; be able to identify appropriate weaving material (including other plants not just willow) and become familiar with the tools used in this traditional craft.

    This course is FREE if you are in receipt of income-related benefits or have a salary below £17,374.50 (based on full time per annum). Otherwise it is £48, or £12.80 for those over state pension age and in receipt of state pension. Evidence of benefits/pension must be provided before the course starts.

    *To take part in any of our conservation or craft courses, you will need to have completed a Welcome to Learning session.  In this session we will introduce you to the Hollybush site, your tutor and other learners.  We will get your Leeds Adult Learning email and Google Classroom account set up which will give you access to bonus course materials.  The day will also include free tea and cake in our friendly community café.  If you have already done one of these sessions, you can join our course in Week 2.

    Our Green Gym at Knockbracken Healthcare Park is an open group for anyone wishing to get outdoors, connect with others, improve their natural environment and wellbeing. A variety of activities are possible at Knockbracken including: Clearing and pruning vegetation, learning to compost and maintain composting, planting and propagation including soft Fruit/shrub bushes, trees, vegetables, wildflowers and much more!
    You can also take part in propagating/lifting and dividing comfrey, willow forest care, fence building and maintenance, bramble bashing, building and maintaining the gene bank, path laying and maintenance.
    All of our activities can be tailored to meet your individual needs and abilities - we can always find something for everyone.
