At Kings Wood
Today we will be going to King's Wood in Selsdon to collect hazel stakes and binders for our low level hurdle installation work at Archbishop's Park. Our Croydon TCV team have been coppicing the hazel stands in one coup of the woodland, so we will be cutting the hazel to length and tying the stakes and binders in bundles, and securing them onto the van for transport to Archbishop's Park on Wednesday.

We will be completing path maintenance to improve the accessibility of this site to the public. We will be spreading woodchip along the main paths to help reduce muddy patches. We will also be pushing back bramble growth and lifting the canopy along the same pathways.

At Mountsorrel Quarry
Working alongside the Mountsorrel (Tarmac) Environmental Restoration Team. Site 4 or Broad Hill is where we will be continuing our task of cutting and removing excess gorse and buddleia to help maintain the establishing grass heathland. All brash/arisings will be used to create dead hedge habitat corridors to further improve the biodiversity of this habitat. We will be able to take the TCV minibus up to the location of our work There are a network of public footpaths over the site with some great views on a clear day.
