Here at the Tree Nursery, we are always looking for volunteers to help us deliver our mission in helping Northern Irelands native woodlands. The vital conservation work we carry out would be impossible without you. *** We currently have a waiting list for volunteering at this Green Gym group**** **Contact Aideen to check for volunteering availability** At this Green Gym we maintain some gardens within the rural area of the Ulster Folk Museum in Cultra. You can expect horticultural work surrounding planting heritage vegetables, maintaining the gardens, aligning our work with the time period of the museum, path maintenance, and other conservation activities such as invasive species removal, and species ID and recording! This Green Gym is funded through the Public Health Agency, and is an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people, get outside and active, learn new skills, and expand your knowledge on horticulture and conservation. We have tasks suited to all abilities, so please get in touch of you have any additional needs or requests.

Join The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to enhance the biodiversity of Glasgowâs many fantastic parks and greenspaces. Help care for the local woodlands and wildlife areas, plant trees and hedges, create wildflower meadows, clear invasive plant species, and much more! Conservation volunteering is a great opportunity to make a difference for nature and to combat climate change. TCV projects run daily from Tuesday â Saturday, approximately 10am â 2pm, with city centre pick-ups and drop-offs. Thereâs no minimum commitment â just join in when you can. With Biodiversity Action Team (East Village E20)
At Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - East Village
Join in with a conservation workday in East Village and help carry out vital management work in the different habitats. Through the year we work in the wetlands, meadows, woodlands, ponds and the community orchard. work varies according to the season. You don't need to book ahead but do drop Karen an email if you can at eastvillage@tcv.org.uk, and if it is the first time you volunteer, we will ask you to fill out a TCV Volunteer Welfare Form (which we can email this to you in advance of the day). In June, you will be working as part of a volunteer team, carrying out meadow management and hopefully some path repairs and construction.

Our Green Gym will be working in the grounds of the Ulster Folk Museum helping to create a folklore trail. Our experienced staff will lead you to plant trees for our seed orchard, weave willow structures, lay paths and will teach you about our native trees and the rich biodiversity that they support. Help us to complete practical outdoor tasks and contribute your ideas for developing the trail. Join our green gym and see the benefits! Get Outdoors: being surrounded by greenery has been shown to improve overall mental health and reduce heart rates. Get Active: conservation work or gardening is a great low impact way to exercise your whole body. Meet Local People: our volunteers love meeting new people, so no need to be shy, enjoy coming together to form a team! Learn New Skills: from tool use and plant ID to group leadership, there is something for everyone. With Bedfordshire Environmental Action Team
At Tweed Drive Sensory Garden
Join us in West Bletchley to help weed and maintain the newly planted community sensory garden. There will be a variety of gardening tasks to keep this lovely location looking it`s best! All tools and instruction will be provided. Please wear long trousers and sturdy enclosed footwear. A sun hat and also a waterproof jacket are recommended. Free transport is available by minibus from our office at The Cemetery Gatehouse, Foster Hill Road, Bedford. The bus will leave at 9.30am and you will be back by 3pm at the latest.

With York Practical Conservation - Weekend
At TCV York Office (THCC)
We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in York and the surrounding area from 10am-4.30pm on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Transport is provided from Tang Hall Community Centre and the University Library bus stop on University Road. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.
