With Biodiversity Action Team
At Royal Edinburgh Hospital - Cyrenian
ð Volunteer with TCV: Grassland Management at Royal Edinburgh Hospital Orchard Who We Are Weâre The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), and we connect people with green spaces to create healthier, happier communities. In Edinburgh, we run the Biodiversity Action Team (EBAT)âa local initiative where we take hands-on action to protect and enhance nature across the city. Whether itâs planting wildflowers, restoring habitats, or building homes for wildlife, weâre working together to make Edinburgh greener and more biodiverse. About the Project Join us in the historic Royal Edinburgh Hospital Orchard, a 150-year-old urban orchard nestled within the hospitalâs therapeutic green space. As part of the NHS Forest, this site supports a wide range of wildlifeâfrom bees and butterflies to foxes and owlsâand is used for gardening, beekeeping, and mindfulness activities. Weâre working to increase the floral diversity of the orchard by managing the grassland areas. Over time, vigorous grasses and dominant plants have begun to take over, reducing the space available for wildflowers. Through careful grassland management, weâll cut back these species and create more room and light for native plants to thriveâsupporting pollinators and enhancing the orchardâs ecological value. This project supports the goals of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, which aims to halt biodiversity loss and build nature-rich, climate-resilient landscapes. It also contributes to the Edinburgh Nature Network, a city-wide initiative to connect and enhance green spaces for people and wildlife. Why Get Involved? ð¼ Help restore a historic urban orchard ð Support pollinators and wildflowers ð¿ Learn practical conservation skills ð¤ï¸ Enjoy the outdoors and meet like-minded people ð No experience neededâjust bring your enthusiasm!

With Conquest Green Gym
At Conquest Hospital
Join us for some lake management on the grounds of the Conquest Hospital in Hastings. The task for this green Gym is to clear the majority of the reedmace that is currently clogging the lake, and pile the removed reedmace onto the side of the bank to rot down.
