    Activity description

    Join us and get outdoors in 2024! We meet at West Heath every Tuesday to do some gentle gardening work at the Community Garden here. No gardening experience is necessary as we will tell you everything you need to know. We provide tools and gloves. Please wear suitable clothes and shoes - we work outdoors for three hours in all weather conditions. This site is wheelchair accessible and consists of raised beds at various heights.

    Bartley Green and Go! Walking Group

    Activity description

    Make new friends, get active and get growing!. Bartley Green and Go! is a community focused project at Bartley Green Library. Meeting at the library at 10am, we go for a gentle walk along local green spaces. In addition to having a chat, we will identify any birds that we see along the way. At 11am, it's back to the library for a brew and a biscuit followed by some gardening and food growing in the library garden. We will also learn about traditional conservation activities and discover how to make our gardens more wildlife friendly.

    Activity description

    Make new friends, get active and get growing!. Bartley Green and Go! is a community focused project based at Bartley Green Library. Join us for some fun and friendly gardening and food growing in the library garden. Together, we will create a community food growing area complete with raised beds and a greenhouse. In addition, we will also create a vibrant, wildlife friendly garden. We will also learn about traditional conservation activities and undertake various wildlife surveys.

    Pond creation

    Activity description

    The project will take place on an allotment plot owned by the local Linden primary school. The funding for the project has been raised through a grant from the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF). We will spend a couple of day digging and profiling the small pond which will provide a valuable teaching resource for children and their families.

    Swadlincote Woods

    Activity description

    Join our friendly team at this urban woodland and park. Our team will be working on outdoor practical conservation activities to improve the site for both wildlife and local people. Tasks on the day will vary, but there will be something for everyone, no matter what your level of fitness. The day runs 10-3 with breaks for tea and for lunch! We are always pleased to welcome new volunteers (under 18s welcome by prior arrangement only).

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in Hull and the surrounding area from 9am-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from TCV Humber field office. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.
