Volunteer Officer

Place: National Forest

Why we need you:
We are looking for a volunteer officer who will join our team and help with practical conservation days at various sites across the National Forest area.

Benefits to you:
You will have access to practical training in conservation skills at local sites. Also formal training in first aid, risk assessment, task leadership and a variety of other leadership skills. There is a chance to join our practical courses for free or at a subsidised rate.

What you need:
Enthusiasm and a willingness to take on responsibility once you have been trained. Good people skills would be an advantage to the role as you will be working with our volunteer team.

How much time:
Two days a week (Tuesday plus either Monday or Friday)

You will be supported in your role by experienced staff through regular meetings where issues can be resolved and guidance provided. You will have all reasonable expenses covered (foreign travel excepted) so will not be out of pocket through your volunteering. You will be insured and expected to comply with the policies and procedures of The Conservation Volunteers.

Where roles will be responsible for others, we need to check your references. When the role involves young people and vulnerable adults, we will need to ask for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, Central Registered Body in Scotland or appropriate body in Northern Ireland.

Many people who work in the Environmental Sector have used a Volunteer Officer role as a stepping stone in their career.
