Join us to learn all about growing your own food at Hollybush. This friendly and welcoming group is the perfect chance to learn the basics, or use the skills you already have to look after the growing spaces at our community hub. We have polytunnels, raised beds, orchards, and plenty of chance to test out some recipes for the food we have grown. This group has lots of choice for what you want to do in the session, so if you have any questions about if it is the right group for you, please get in touch.

Transport provided from Tang Hall Community Centre. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

With Richmond Weekday Projects
At Little Park -River Crane
We will be working in Little Park to re-naturalise a section of Mill Stream and improve the habitat for the endangered water vole. The project is being managed by Zoological Society of London on behalf of the Crane Valley Partnership, on land which is owned and managed by Richmond Council. Water vole need well vegetated banks, for food and predator avoidance. Overshading is the principle reason for lack of vegetated banks in this stretch of Mill Stream. We will look to reduce the shading over the western bank of the stream by removing overhanging branches, smaller trees and scrubby patches. We will provide waders and gloves. If you are of a smaller foot size, I would recommend bringing an extra thick pair of socks as the smallest wader size we have available is a 7. Land-loving volunteers are also vital for collecting and moving green waste and litter around the site.
