This course runs on Tuesdays for 5 weeks from 29th April to 27th May 2025 from 10.00am to 13.30pm This course is specifically for those who would like to support positive wellbeing through learning to garden inside and outside of their home. The course is aimed at people with or without gardening experience, who want to learn more about greening their spaces and growing plants. On this course you will learn about: microgreens, herbs, succulents, growing food, square foot gardening, helping wildlife, how plants can improve your health, growing and displaying plants and more. This course is FREE if you are in receipt of certain income related benefits; work full-time (37hrs a week) and earn below £25,000 or part-time and earn less than £13.05 per hour; It is £26.25 for those in receipt of state pension. Otherwise contact us for course fees. Evidence of identity and benefits, pension, or salary must be provided before the course starts. We will be doing a variety of tasks throughout the duration of the project which include; improving the biodiversity of the site, regular wildlife surveys, site maintenance, mapping, improving the grounds, planning and research. There will be soup provided at lunch break, but you can still bring your own food if you wish. Please come in weather appropriate clothing. With York Practical Conservation - Midweek
At TCV York Office (THCC)
We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in York and the surrounding area from 9am-4.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from Tang Hall Community Centre. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

The Forth Valley Biodiversity Action Team undertake various practical conservation tasks and improve green spaces across Falkirk and Stirling. Activities include woodland management, pond clearance, maintaining paths and sowing wildflower seeds. We are dedicated to enhancing biodiversity through a range of activities from woodland management, creating habitats, eradicating invasive species, sowing wildflower seeds and community garden work. Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and an opportunity to meet new people from a range of backgrounds. Come and join us to help care for the environment, meet new people and spend some time in the great outdoors!
